TITLE Even China Isn’t Convinced It Can Replace the U.S.
The article is written by Jessica Chen Weiss, who's a professor of Government at Cornell University.
She puts the 2 big countries in front of each other: on one side China, with a "malleable ideology", on the other the US, moved by "exaggerated fear".
She shows how the idea of China replacing US is a low possibility, for several reasons: not a strong economy, not a strong military advance and not a strong technological development; CCP's ideology uneasily to captivate the rest of the world; lack of transparency and poor attention to environment in their overseas investments.
But she also suggest US not to live out of fear towards China, to create a "with-us-or-against-us framing" that could create other enemies and surely aliment the Chinese idea of the US as an hostile presence.
Interesting article, that professionally covers good idea to develop further.
